Misplaced Moral Values: NGO moves to reawake parental responsibilities

In a bid to check misplaced values in our society, a non governmental organization, Virtuous Children Organization, VCO, has concluded plans to organize an enlightenment seminar for parents and Teachers of primary and junior secondary schools in Warri South local government area.

The seminar slated for White House along Esisi Road in Warri, Delta State with the theme “Repositioning your status as children’s custodian” is being put together to build confidence and security between children of ages 6 to 15 as well as to disabuse their minds from the negative perceptions that Nigeria is a corrupt nation and Niger Delta is a no go area.

According to a statement by President of the group, Mrs. Flora Omolola, VCO is burdened by recent misplaced moral and societal values which have made many young children, especially those between 18 and 25 years hold parents responsible for the present situation as well as accusing them of neglect due to “the quest for fame, power and money”. The statement adds that as part of its strategies, VCO will continually liaise with schools, agencies, similar NGOs, Old student associations and other stakeholders to empower the children with literature, writing materials as well as other educational tools that would aid learning.

VCO which started its operation from Delta State has a vision to spread its operation in due course. Fresh Angle reliably gathered that VCO has so far donated notebooks to 4 primary and secondary schools in the Warri area as well as organized a holiday workshop with the theme “The Impact of Positive Role Model to the Lives of Young Children”. The group has also organized excursion for selected pupils and students in Warri South local government.
