Delta LG Secretaries Okay Uduaghan for second term

Local Government Secretaries in Delta State has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, urging him to rerun for Delta State gubernatorial poll in 2011.

At its monthly meeting held in Ogbe-Ijoh, headquarters of Warri South West local government Wednesday June 30, the local government secretaries under the auspices of Local Government Council Secretaries Forum, Delta State declared that after a careful appraisal of the implementation of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s 3 point project, it resolved to unequivocally back the Governor to consolidate on his programme by rerunning for 2011.

The decision to back the Governor which was moved by Secretary to Ndokwa East local government, Ogbuefi Ben Orupete and seconded by Hon. Duke Ishegbe, Secretary to Ethiope East local government received the backing of the Chairman of Warri South West local government, Hon. George Ekpomupolo as well as all the 14 local government secretaries cutting across the three senatorial districts that graced the monthly meeting.

The meeting which was presided over by Hon. Emmanuel Golly, Secretary to Warri South West local government witnessed the cameo appearance of the Chairman of Warri South West local government, Hon. George Ekpemupolo. The Warri South West Council boss, who observed the resolution, thanked the secretaries for sustaining the unity in the state and enjoined them to mobilized grassroots support for Dr. Uduaghan’s return bid.

Secretary to Warri South local government, Dr. Austin Uroye who spoke on behalf of others, commended the Warri South West local government chairman for constructing an ultra modern secretariat in the council.

In a 5 point communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the forum noted that the recent visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to Delta State has put “ all detractors to shame”, describing the visit as an unparallel display of statesmanship. The Forum also promised to synergies with the local government chairmen to take the one man, one vote campaign of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan to the grassroots, just as it enjoined all Deltans to put tribal as well as personal differences beside and support the Governor’s re-election to enable him consolidate on his achievements so far.
