Forgive your accusers, female group tells inmates of Warri Prison

As part of its vision to win more women to the kingdom of God, a female group, The Total Women has urged inmates of Warri prison to forgive those whose allegation brought them to prison as well as cultivate the spirit of forgiveness of one another.

The group which was on its first evangelical visit to the Warri prison said through their leader, Mrs. Taseh Odibo that the rational for the evangelical visit is a passion to preach the gospel to female inmates.

Taking her text from Philippians 3:10 and John 10 with the slogan that “I may know him” she noted that they must forgive one another if they want their sins to be forgiven.

Mrs. Odibo who described the Warri prison as a place where there is due process, also said that the only way to decongest the prison is through the word of God which must start from the home.

But as the Total Women were at the female cell evangelizing, Pastor Patrick Esiagboro was busy with the male inmates, he assured them that there is hope referring them to Luke 7:11 and Job 14:7.

The Total Women also presented gift items such as literatures, school chalk, toiletries, drinks, food, two carton of tooth paste and carton of lux soap, including detergents to the inmates.

Receiving the gift items on behalf of the inmates, P.S. Igueriseh thanked the executive of Total Women for their kind gesture.

Mr. Okoka Theophilus (Welfare Officer) was among officers of the Warri prison that witnessed the event.

Meanwhile, an inmate of the Warri prison, Mr. Joseph Omotara has called on lawyers and the Committee for the Defense of Human Right to come to his rescue as he is deteriorating health wise.

Mrs. Joseph Omotara made the call recently when the Total Women took evangelism to the Warri prison.

Mr. Joseph Omotara, a retired Army Officer said he was brought into the prison as a result of manslaughter in 2005. According to him, he was servicing a gun at Ughelli when the gun discharged and killed a girl. According to him, to show that he didn’t do it intentionally, he rushed the girl to a hospital.

But efforts to save the girl’s life proved abortive. He explained further that when the girl’s father came, he pleaded with him and was later told to come and settle with him with a huge sum of money which he did not have as a retired soldier.

The inmate alleged that it was for that reason he was taken to court where he was granted bail but did not have any one to pay for his bail hence he has been remanded in prison custody since 2005.

Mr. Joseph Omotara who is now a pastor of the prison chapel Warri, is calling on Committee for the Defense of Human Right to come to his aid, claiming that some of his fellow inmates are suffering unjustly as a result of their case not being heard.
