ICAN Honours PTI Female Hall Administrator

The Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (ICAN) recently honoured the Female Noble Hall Administrator and Deputy Chief Officer (Administration) of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State, Mrs. Ann Onuwa Chalaokwu-Orumade with a Fellowship Award on Educational Administration.

Presenting the award to Mrs. Chalaokwu-Orumade, the Conference Director, Dr. G. C. Onyekwere stated that the award was in recognition and appreciation of efficient resource management, visionary leadership and outstanding performance in educational administration.

Mrs. Chalaokwu-Orumade who is popularly known as “iron lady” within the Institute’s community and beyond because she always bears her mind truthfully and faithfully without caring whose ox is gored on any important issue started her administrative career at the old Warri Local Government Council Secretariat. Prior to this, she has acted plays at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Benin-City in the present Edo State.

The PTI Hall Administrator who could be truthfully described as grass roots administrator attended the University of Benin (UNIBEN) popularly known as UNIBEST where she bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. She also possesses a certificate in public administration (CPA) from the same university. She has served and contributed her quota to the development and progress of various directorates, departments and divisions in the PTI.

As part of efforts to demonstrate professionalism and excellence in administration, the Ogwashi-Uku-Delta State born administrator belongs to various professional bodies like the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) among many others. She has attended various short courses, seminars and conferences in management and administration both in Nigeria and abroad. She is blessed with three (3) children, two (2) boys and one (1) girl and they are all currently in abroad. She believes very well in birth control which she sees as a way to eliminate poverty and child labour/abuse in Africa with particular reference to Nigeria. She is currently the Delta State Coordinator of Sweet Mother International, a non governmental organization with headquarters in Australia and has been seriously carrying out campaign to save African women from pregnancy related deaths (SAVE).

Addressing news men shortly after receiving the fellowship award at the Lone Palm Hotel, Asaba , Delta State, venue of the ceremony, Mrs. Chalaokwu-Orumade promised to continue with the same spirit of discipline and dedication to ensure the progress and development of the nation. The award entitles her with the use of “FCAI” that is Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration after her name.
