By: Jolomi Okotie

The Pastor of First Baptist Church, Ogidigben and Executive Director of Christian Day Schools, Ugbori-Warri, Rev. G.O.T. Aforijuku has appealed for the co-operation and assistance of all stakeholders in his quest at strengthening the development of pupils and students of the school via the provision of up-to-date infrastructures.

The Clergyman made the appeal Saturday July 31 at the Otonloye hall, Ugbori-Warri during the 16th graduation and prize giving day ceremony of Christian Day Schools.

Rev. Aforijuku while calling for a synergy between good spirited Nigerians and the Institution in the sponsorship of indigent students in the locality, listed challenges facing the school to include procurement of new set of computers, science equipment, more up-to-date books for its library as well as the need to have a school bus to convey children from the neighbourhood of Ugbuwangue, Ubeji and Egbokodo.

He commended parents of wards in the school for responding to issues that bother on the children’s welfare and admonished the students to shun negative vices. While commending the efforts of House patrons and PTA executive of the school in its successes record so far, Rev. Aforijuku disclosed that results of the just released primary six and junior secondary school examinations showed a hundred percent performance by pupils/students from the school.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Samson Atotuoma declared that Christian Day Schools have recorded “an indelible mark of academic success in the sand of time”. He advised parents to show more concern toward the teaching and learning process of their wards, just as he enjoined everyone to help in facilitating the growth and development of Christian Day Schools.

Fresh Angle can report that a total of 38 pupils graduated from the kindergarten section to the primary, while 30 pupils graduated from the primary school to the secondary arm. Efforts are in top gear by management of the school to construct eight classrooms’ block that will see the primary section of the school relocated to the institution’s permanent site.

The colourful 16th graduation/prize giving day ceremony featured exciting events such as CDS News, My Occupation, Pre Nursery Presentation, Spelling Duck, Debate, Master/Miss CDS, Dance Presentation and award of prizes/certificates.
