The Peoples Democratic Party Women of Warri South local government has been urged to solidify their support for Governor Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan by registering in the impending voters’ registration exercise as well as mobilize other women in the grassroots in preparation of 2011 polls.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Development, Chief (Mrs.) Betty Efekodha gave the advice recently when she paid a courtesy visit to the Warri South west local government council secretariat.

Mrs. Betty Efekodha who said the idea behind the visit is to mobilize the women and drum up support for Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, also commended the Governor for his human capital development programme, empowerment of women, appointment of five female commissioners, appointment of women into key government positions and the recent appointment of a woman as Secretary to State Government.

She noted that another reason for her visit to the Warri South west local government council is to intimate and mobilize the women for the forthcoming visit of wife of the president, Mrs. Dame Patience Jonathan to Delta State. She explained that the visit of the President’s wife is to inaugurate the Women for Change initiative slated for 19th of August 2010.

The Governor’s aide, who described the administration of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan as an enlightened government, also advised the women to take advantage of the adult education made available by the governor.

Chief Efekodha and the PDP Women in Warri South were marveled at the good works of the Chairman of Warri South west, Hon. George Ekpemupolo. The women who commended Hon. George Ekpemupolo for changing the face of the council secretariat also noted that what they saw on ground in Warri South west local government “has not been seen elsewhere”, advising those who care to listen to take cue from Hon. George Ekpemupolo.

Earlier, Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Development, Delta South, Princess (Mrs.) Rita Yonwuren Esquire, commended the governor on the implementation of his three point project, particularly as it affects women in the state and pledged the unalloyed support of women in the state towards the governor’s re-election bid.

She also thanked the Chairperson of the event, Hon. Mrs. Mabel Ekpemupolo for supporting her husband in carrying out the good works in the local government.

Responding, Hon. Mrs. Mabel Ekpemupolo thanked the women for their large turnout and prayed for God’s guidance upon their lives.

Meanwhile, a PDP Women leader in Burutu, Mrs. Warekumo Janet has pleaded with Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to provide her community and other riverine communities with water transportation.

Mrs. Stella Omadoye, wife of the Vice Chairman of Warri South West, Hon. Emmanuel Golly, Secretary to Warri South West and Barr. U.S. Onuoma were among top PDP leaders in the council that attended the colourful event.
