Co-operative Societies charged to operate within ambit of law

The Delta State Director of Co-operatives, Chief Austin Enebeli has charged NNPC Refinery Staff Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society to always operate within the ambit of the law, stressing that it was willing to co-operate with the NNPC management to assist the society achieved maximum benefit from their contribution.

Chief Enebeli made this charge during the 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the body at the WRPC auditorium recently. He paid glowing tribute to the out-going president of the Society and his team for effectively managing the affairs of the Co-operative profitably.

While charging the co-operators to elect only credible persons to man the society, he appealed to all aspirants to various positions in the Co-operative to thoroughly examine themselves before standing out to seek for elective and leadership position, noting that running a co-operative society as big as theirs is a Herculean task.
The Management Committee of the NNPC Refinery Staff Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society revealed that it has recovered over N24million erroneously deducted from their account by their former bank.

Out-going president of the Co-operative, Engr. Igho Odiphri who made this revelation at the occasion also said that during the year under review, the management committee not only met its set target but also exceeded same and acquired two petrol tankers that are already yielding dividends.
Highlight of the AGM was the election of Engr. Mohammed Yakubu and Engr. Emmanuel Etim as new President and Secretary respectively.
