I have insulated Information Unit from Admin Department, says Aniocha North Council boss

The Chairman of Aniocha North local government area in Delta State, Hon. Jaunty Mike Okwudi says his administration has insulated Information Unit from Admin Department in the council by bringing it directly under the control of his office.

The Aniocha North Council boss stated this Wednesday July 14 when he played host to members of the Delta State Chapter of National Council of Local Government Information Officers of Nigeria at the Exco Chambers of the local government secretariat in Isseluku.

Hon. Jaunty Okwudi who declared that the activity of his administration is anchored on the local government law, added that the role of local government Information Officers is very vital in the smooth running of the local government system. While promising to continually support Information Unit in his local government, Hon. Okwudi enjoined other council Chairmen in the state to “fully support the Information Unit”.

Earlier in her remark, the Delta State President of National Council of Local Government Information Officers of Nigeria, NACOLGION, Mrs. Joy Mordi, commended the Aniocha North Council Chairman for his development strides and thanked him for his support to the council’s Information Unit. She appealed to Hon. Okwudi to ensure release of funds for training and retraining of the local government Information officers. The Delta State NACOLGION President berated those who bypass their Information Officers in Information dissemination at the councils and solicited the support of the Aniocha Council boss in their pursuit for the creation of a separate department for local government Information Officers in the state.

The Vice Chairman of Aniocha North local government, Hon. Henry Nwabuaku, Secretary to the local government, Architect Udoka Elue, Supervisor for Works, Chieftaincy Affairs and Health, Mr. Peter Ukwamedua, M. Mordi and Angela Onweze respectively were in attendance.
