State government swear-in Secretary to Warri South, others as Justice of Peace

The Delta State government has sworn-in Secretary to Warri South local government, Dr. Austine Uroye and several others as Justice of Peace with a charge on them to preserve the peace within their domain.

Performing the swearing-in Wednesday August 4 at the High Court I in Warri, the State Chief Judge, Justice Rosaline Bozimor, noted that the necessity for the appointment of Justice of Peace in the state was informed by the yearning need to bring justice closer to the people and minimize crime in our society.

Justice Rosaline Bozimor who was represented by Hon. Justice T.C. Makwe, Administrative Judge, Warri Judicial Division, tasked the over 20 new JPs to among other things suppress riots and affrays as well as disperse all forms of disorderliness.

According to the State Chief Judge, the Governor’s appointment of the Justices of Peace is in conformity with section 12 (1) of the Magistrate Court law and it was done after due consultations. She enjoined the JPs not to betray the confidence which the state government and people of the state reposed in them. While acknowledging the challenges facing the new JPs, Justice Rosaline Bozimor warned that the state government will not hesitate to ensure that any JP who is found wanting in his duties will be shown the way out.

Responding on behalf of the new JPs, the Chairman of Agbarha CDC, Chief Israel Abido, thanked the state government for the appointment and promised that the confidence reposed in them will be upheld.

Secretary to Warri South local government, Dr. Austine Uroye in an interview, stated that he will do the best to tackle the challenges associated with the honour. Chief of Staff to Government House, Hon. Solomon Areyenka, Agbarha CDC Chairman, Chief Israel Abido, MD, Gladtrico International Limited, Mr. Eric Ebozele, Chief Jonathan Ayiwe from Ogunu Community and Chief Vincent Okudolor described the honour as a call to continuously render service to humanity.

Engr. Joe Omatsola, member of Okere CDC, Jolomi Dabo, Mr. Better Beji and his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Iyamu were among those sworn in as JPs.
