The police in Ozoro have re-arrested about 3 students of the Film and Broadcast Academy (FABA) after granting them bail over the death of their colleague, Tender Nwabu.

This was fallout of an incident that occurred recently at the Pintos hotel in Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North local government area.

Our correspondent gathered from a reliable source that the students went to Pintos hotel with the deceased, Tender Nwabu to have some drinks. After drinking, they decided to swim. Okonkwo Ngozi Maureen, Esther Loveday, Isanegbu .W. Tonbra all of whom are students of the Film and Broadcast Academy and one Mr. John, a friend of theirs, allegedly left the swimming pool after satisfying themselves. On their return, they discovered their colleague was nowhere to be found, only to find the lifeless body of their friend floating on the same swimming pool the following morning. The management of the hotel quickly alerted the police to take up the case.

Fresh Angle gathered that when the police came, they arrested the students and their friend without any management staff of the hotel picked. Autopsy test was carried out by the parents of the deceased, Mr. & Mrs. Nwabu to ascertain if he was poisoned through drink. But the result of the test showed that he was not poisoned.

Following the result of the autopsy, Mr. & Mrs. Nwabu decided not to press charges against the students.

The police later granted bail to the students after parting with huge sum of money.

The students were later asked to return to the station, on getting there, they were re-arrested on the order of the Ozoro Divisional Police Officer.

Our correspondent who visited Pintos hotel, reports that the managing director who was at the helm of affairs when the incident took place no longer work there. The new managing director, Mr. Anire Oniyemofe confirmed the incident, adding that he was briefed about the development upon resumption. Mr. Anire Oniyemofe who expressed sympathy over the state of the students, called on the police to drop the case as the parents of the deceased are not pressing charges against them.

Efforts to speak with the management staff of FABA proved abortive, as our reporter was told that both the Rector and Registrar of the institution were seriously making moves to effect the release of their students.

Efforts by our correspondent to get words from the police at Ala Square in Ozoro also met a brick wall, as all the officers met kept referring Fresh Angle to others.

Meanwhile, a police officer has been killed while two others were seriously injured in a robbery attack at Ozoro.

The incident occurred between 1 and 2am, Thursday July 22 at Urhuamudu road in Ozoro.

The robbers were said to be coming from an operation when they ran into a police check point. In a bid to ward off the police, they opened fire on the police men, killing one and leaving two others critically injured while the hoodlums escaped.

The police who were from the NDC Road police station in Ozoro were moody when our correspondent visited. Attempts to speak with authorities of the station were unsuccessful as the police were yet to recover from the gory incident.

The Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Ukhuebor was also in sober mood when Fresh Angle visited.
