Delta NUJ approves Chapel for LG Info Officers

The Delta State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has approved a chapel for professional mass communicators under the payroll of Delta State Local Government Service Commission.

The approval which is sequel to a request by the local government mass communicators under the auspices of Delta State Chapter of National Council of Local Government Information Officers of Nigeria, NACOLGION, was provisionally granted late December 2010.

Feelers reaching Fresh Angle reveals that the formal verification and inauguration of the local government Information Officers chapel will hold this January 2011 at a yet to be fixed venue.

In a reaction to the development, the State President of NACOLGION, Mrs. Joy Mordi expressed delight at the approval and noted that it will go a long way in increasing the professionalism of local government Information Officers. She revealed that the approval of the chapel is a major step towards achieving its goal of having a separate department for local government Information Officers in Delta State.

Fresh Angle gathered that LG Information Officers already registered with other chapels have been directed to forward their data while those yet to register have been told to update all necessary documents.
