Murder of Ex Patani Chair: Group blames it on anti 4th term posture

By: Jolomi Okotie

A group which goes by the name Delta Izon Patriots has attributed the murder of one time Patani local government caretaker community chairman, Paul Atie to his hard stance against fourth term bid by Ijaw legislators at both the National and State Assembly.

In a text message forwarded to Fresh Angle, the group queried the rationale behind politicians seeking power by all means, including taking lives of opponents. The test message reads in part, “Paul Atie, ex-C/M Patani murdered over Delta Izon DTHA/NASS 4th term issue. What is d value of power tainted in blood?”

It would be recalled that the former Patani council boss was murdered in cold blood at about 7.30pm Thursday December 30, 2010 at Total Filling Station near Central Garage in the heart of Ughelli, Delta State.
