A titanic battle is brewing over who represents Ughelli South Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly in the impending April polls, as Engr. Eme Mukoro, son in-law to business mogul and patriarch of the Ibru family, Olorogun Michael Ibru has picked the Democratic Peoples Party ticket to slug it out with Hon. Taleb Tebite, who is the incumbent member representing the constituency.

Our Delta Central Correspondent reports that Engr. Eme Mukoro who was a staunch member of the PDP defected to DPP following frustrations over the years which has seen him step down on several occasions for other aspirants. Fresh Angle gathered that matters came to a head during the recent PDP primaries when he and other aspirants were screened out instead of giving the chance to test their political clout.

Meanwhile an aspirant on the platform of PDP, Hon. Jacob Tone has dragged Hon. Taleb Tebite to court over the party ticket, contending that no primary was held.

Hon. Taleb Tebite could not be reached for comment as at press time, but investigations reveal that the Democratic Peoples Party is firmly on ground in the area as the polls draw closer.

In a related development, a DPP Chieftain and Chairman of Board of Directors of Ughievwen Micro Finance Bank in Ughelli South local government, Chief Andrew Desi recently escaped assassination at his private residence in Aladja near Warri, Fresh Angle can authoritatively report.

Fresh Angle gathered that the heavily armed assassins gained access to his residence between the hours of 3:00 and 4:00pm on Wednesday February 9th after destroying security system in his premises. Our Correspondent reports that on sensing trouble, Chief Desi’s security man told the suspected assassins that his boss was not at home.

On sighting the vehicle used by Chief Desi, the assassins asked the security man why it was parked at the premises if truly he wasn’t around. The security man reportedly told them that his boss was driven away in a jeep by a friend who is also a chief. The assassins, who were not convinced gained access into the house, ransacked the entire building but could not get the DPP Chieftain who was busy praying in one of his rooms.

Our source alleged that the assassination attempt is political due to Chief Andrew Desi’s support for Engr. Eme Umukoro. According to the source who prefers anonymity, the former PDP Chieftain was instrumental to the emergence of Professor Amos Utuama as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice under Chief James Ibori administration in Delta State.

Fresh Angle reliably gathered that attempts to convince Engr. Eme Umukoro, the DPP candidate to drop his House of Assembly aspiration by the ruling PDP has been unsuccessful following the support Chief Desi and his fellow PDP decampees give to him.

Chief Andrew Desi, a prominent community leader and politician is a son-in-law to the Urhukpe of Udu Kingdom, Chief Sido.
