The Delta State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has inaugurated a chapel for Information Officers working with the 25 local government councils in Delta State.

Performing the inauguration Wednesday January 20 at the Warri South Council Secretariat, the Delta State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Osita Biose, enjoined members to display professionalism at all times, stressing that any member of NUJ who has no professional certificate will have no place in the current dispensation.

The NUJ helmsman advised members to vote for reliable candidates in the forthcoming NUJ State elections and noted that his leadership has created more chapels in the history of the state council.

Responding on behalf of the executive and other members, the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Joy Mordi thanked the State NUJ Chairman for making the LG Information Officers chapel a reality despite several challenges. She promised that members of the chapel will not let the State NUJ down in the performance of their duties at the local government level.

The Chairman of Warri South local government, Hon. Mofe Edema had earlier told the local government Information Officers who paid him a courtesy visit to tackle the issue of a separate department for Information Officers working in the local government with the Local Government Service Commission.

The Warri South Council boss, who told the local government Information Officers that he came with a divine mandate, admonished them to shun illegitimate means of wealth acquisition.

Other members of the 7 man executive of the new chapel are Bernard Ogih, Vice Chairman, Sonny Ejuwa, Secretary, Ufuoma Ajuwa, Treasurer, Omoghene Faith, Financial Secretary, Ebule Anthony, Auditor and Ikpibako Shepherd, Ex Officio.
