E-Payment system exposes huge deductions in Teachers’ salaries

The introduction of electronic payment system for primary school teachers in Delta State has exposed huge deductions in their monthly salaries, Fresh Angle scoop reveals.

The new payment system which will soon be implemented for local government workers’ makes the payment of salaries centralized and monitored from Asaba unlike the former preparation of vouchers at the various Local Education Authorities. Though no reason has been blamed for the revelation, a teacher with one of the riverine Primary schools in Warri South local government who spoke to Fresh Angle on condition of anonymity stated that a colleague who usually gets N19,000.00 as monthly pay was surprise to see N27,000.00 when she went to the bank for her recent salary.

According to the source who also claims to be a victim of the seeming fraud, while many of the teachers were surprised to see huge surplus in their monthly salary, a few others observed slight reductions due to what authorities at Asaba blamed on calculation errors.
