Rain of awards, as Ndokwa East LGC holds 2010 NULGE day

The chairman of Ndokwa East local government chapter of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Cyril Ozegbe has presented awards to staffers who distinguished themselves in the performance of their duty.

Comrade Ozegbe said it is in fulfillment of his campaign promises, noting that it is the first of its kind in the history of the local government. He gave the award during the 2010 end of year party held at the council secretariat.

Important dignitaries that graced the ceremony include Comrade Lizzy Ogbetuo, Director of Personnel Management, Isoko North Local Government Council. Comrade Ogbetuo also received an award of excellence for her contributions towards the development of Ndokwa East while serving at Aboh.

Other dignitaries include Comrade Emily Orji, State Trustee, NULGE, Sir G.O. Okonkwo, DPM, Ndokwa East Local Government Council, Comrade Ayama Apare, TLG, Ndokwa East Local Government Council, Comrade N.C. Oforlea, Director of Administration, Ndokwa East Local Government Council as well as a-two-time State Treasurer of NULGE, Comrade K.O. Idolor.

In his opening speech, Comrade Cyril Ozegbe pleaded with the Council Chairman, Hon. Elder Chike Ugwunmadu to extend his welfare package to field staff, purchase a brand new hummer Toyota bus for the union as well as build a NULGE complex with staff canteen for effective staff welfare.

The raffle draw winner, Comrade Richard Opene went home with an LG flat screen television, while a second price of an Industrial fan was presented to Comrade Emmanuel Ijeomah. Comrade Benjamin Ezechi had a DVD player as the third prize and consolation prices were given to seven other staff.

Ibrede Health Centre emerged the most responsive health centre in the local government. Comrade Onyebuolise Monday of Agric Department, Comrade Okwudili Anthony of Admin. Department, Comrade Eloh Gold of Education Department, Comrade Osugba Jerry of Environmental Department, Enudi Sunday of Finance and Treasury, Amos David of Community Development, Ikogwe Michael of PHC Department as well as Barrister Oyemike for Legal Department were all rewarded for being outstanding in their departments.

The climax of the occasion featured the star prize award to the most punctual and the most regular staff, Comrade Ikwuabuonu Pius of Admin Department. He was decorated with a star prize of a giant deep freezer, while Comrade Akande Rhoda of the Finance and Treasury department emerged the most regular staff in the local government with a giant deep freezer to go home with.

Responding on behalf of others, Comrade Akande Rhoda thanked the union executive as well as the entire members of NULGE, Ndokwa East. She also averred that she “will remain the most regular staff in the local government come 2011NULGE day”.

The Ndokwa East branch executive also presented an award to Comrade David Ofoeyeno, the state President of NULGE who was ably represented by the State Trustee. Elder Chike Ugwunmadu was awarded for his outstanding contribution to staff welfare in the local government, while an award of excellence for the godfather of NULGE fell on Sir G.O. Okonkwo, Director of Personnel Management, Ndokwa East Local Government, Aboh.

Also responding, an awardee, Comrade Okwudili Anthony commended the NULGE executive and the entire staff of the council, adding that the award will ginger more seriousness in the awardees and urged other staff to work harder so as to earn the award next time.
